SANTA ANA - The Dons were forced to overcome early errors and a 4-0 deficit to pick up a 6-4 win over El Camino College-Compton Center in a non-conference game. The win sends the Dons (12-1) into Orange Empire Conference competition on Saturday when they play at Irvine Valley College.

Compton (1-13) built an early 4-0 lead with one run in the first inning and three runs in the second inning. All four runs came across unearned for the Tartars as SAC's defense committed three errors in the first two innings while Compton put together four hits.

The Dons came back with three runs in the bottom of the second to pull within one run despite not recording a single hit. Justin Mellano was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force the first run across before Tommy Anderson and Patrick Cromwell were both walked with the bases loaded to force the other two runs across.

Austin Pritchard tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning when he singled in Cromwell who drew a one-out walk earlier in the inning. Finally, in the sixth inning, Anderson put the Dons on top for good with a two-run home run to left field.

On the mound, Dalton Rasmussen (2-0) held the Tarters scoreless over six innings of relief work while allowing just two hits. Andrew Hodges (3) got the save as he pitched a perfect ninth inning on just eight pitches. Gary Smith (1-2) took the loss as he allowed three runs, all earned, on three hits in four innings.
