Dons Fall to Saddleback 12-1 to Close Series

SANTA ANA - The Dons were swept by Saddleback College today in the series finale by a final score of 12-1. The loss drops the Dons to 16-11 on the season and 3-9 in conference while Saddleback stays atop the Orange Empire Conference standings with a 10-2 conference mark and an overall record of 22-5.

The Gauchos scored the bulk of their runs from the third through the sixth inning with four runs in each of the third and fifth innings. Saddleback also scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings before adding two more runs in the eighth inning.

The Dons lone run came across in the sixth inning when Colin Winn singled in Tommy Anderson who reached second on an error in the previous at bat. On the day, the Dons were held to seven hits with only Thomas Blood getting multiple hits, as he went 2-for-2 as a late-inning substitution.

Dalton Rasmussen (3-2) took the loss as he allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits over 3.2 innings. Jackson Rees (4-1) got the win for the Gauchos as he allowed one unearned run on four hits over seven innings.
