Dons Edged Out by Hawks on Late Goal

SANTA ANA, Calif. – After 70 minutes of soccer, the Dons Women's Soccer team found itself down by just one against Santiago Canyon College in Tuesday's Orange Empire Conference match-up.

The momentum quickly shifted after the Dons earned themselves a corner kick, which bounced around until Sophomore Hope Alvarez got a shot off and netted her second goal of the season.

With the score tied at one apiece, SAC looked like they were going to sneak out with a tie after being down for most of the match.

For the rest of the 90 minutes, the Dons did their best to clear attacks made by the Hawks, but couldn't quite hold them off as Ofelia Sosa scored with only three and a half minutes remaining.

It was a great effort by the Dons Women's Soccer team but in the end, they were defeated by a score of 2-1. The loss drops them to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the OEC.

Next, the Dons will travel to El Camino College on Friday, Sept. 22nd at 1:00 p.m. Live video coverage can be found here: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/elcamino/
