Dons Fall to Pirates After Second Half Woes

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana College's Women's Soccer team was defeated by the Orange Coast College Pirates by a score of 3-0 on Friday afternoon.

The loss drops the Dons to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the Orange Empire Conference, while Orange Coast improved to 5-1-4, and 3-0-2.

In the first half, the Dons battled to keep the score at zero even after trailing six to three in shots taken and four to zero in corner kicks. It was a great defensive stand that showed the toughness that SAC has played with all season.

The match continued to be scoreless until the 55-minute mark when OCC put the first goal of the game away off a rebound. Santa Ana held the Pirates off for about thirty more minutes until giving up the second and third goals near the end of the match.

Breana Martinez tallied six saves in the match, bring her to a total of 51 on the season, which leads the Orange Empire Conference.

The Dons will try to rebound in another OEC match at home against Fullerton College on Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
