SANTA ANA - The Dons remained unbeaten on the young season with their 9-1 win over visiting Los Angeles Mission College in a non-conference game. The win improves the Dons to 3-0-1 while Mission suffered its first loss, dropping its record to 3-1.

Despite the nine runs, the game started off as a pitcher's duel between SAC's Andy Weddle and Mission's Aaron Hamilton. The only offensive edge early on belonged to the Dons in the fourth inning.

Tanner Negrette led the fourth off with a double before Frankie Nogales would draw a one-out walk. Nestor Linares provided the hit the Dons needed with his two-run triple to centerfield, putting SAC up 2-1.

Mission had scored its lone run of the game in the top of the fourth, aided by a Dons error. Joe Guerrero doubled before moving to third on an error. He later came in to score, unearned, on a sacrifice fly by Tanner Marcoe.

Much like their last victory, the Dons broke the game open late as they scored seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Cameron Baranek and Alex Mascarenas each had a RBI-single in the seventh before the Dons sent 11 batters to the plate in the eighth.

Negrette and Frankie Nogales each hit a two-run double and Colin Winn provided a RBI-single to account for the Dons five runs.

Weddle (2-0) got the win for the Dons as he spread out five hits in five innings with one strikeout and the one unearned run. A.J. Franks came in to pick up his second save of the season as he shutout Mission over the final two innings.
