SANTA ANA - The Dons lost their sixth-straight game after opening Orange Empire Conference competition 2-0. The latest loss came by a score of 9-3 to Saddleback College to even the season series between the two schools at 1-1.

Saddleback (14-6, 4-4) took the lead early with one run in the first inning off three-straight, two-out singles before adding a pair of runs, including a solo home run by Ryan Fitzpatrick, in the second inning.

The Dons (11-9-1, 2-6) cut the lead to just one with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Tanner Negrette singled in Devan Campos before Cameron Baranek drew a bases loaded walk to score Negrette.

The Gauchos added a run in the sixth, four runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth while the Dons managed just one run for the remainder of the game. The Dons final run came when Alex Mascarenas scored on a wild pitch.

Andy Weddle (3-3) took the loss for the Dons as he allowed four runs, two earned, on five hits in 5.2 innings of work. Jordan Scheftz (1-0) got the win in relief as he allowed just one run on two hits in two innings of work.
