Venegas and Solis Score Two Goals Apiece in 4-0 Win over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA - The Dons used a flurry of goals in the second half to take sole control of first place in the Orange Empire Conference with a 4-0 win over Orange Coast College. The two teams were tied coming into the game, but the win improved the Dons to 9-3-0 overall and 4-1-0 in the OEC while the Pirates fall to 3-4-1 and 3-2-0.

The first goal of the game came in the 11th minute and was the only goal of the half. Leonardo Contreras controlled the ball at the top of the box before passing to Luis Venegas, who was on the left side of the field. After dribbling the ball for a moment, Venegas fired a shot from the top of the box, scoring and putting the Dons up 1-0.

The Dons second goal came in the 68th minute following an Orange Coast foul. Antonio Solis took the ensuing free kick from near the side line. His shot went through a group of players in front of the goal before ultimately rolling into the net.

The third goal was a near mirror image of the second goal, just from a few yards further up the field. After an Orange Coast foul, Solis once again took the free kick and scored to put the Dons up 3-0 in the 78th minute.

Just a minute later, Venegas scored his second goal of the match when Jovanny Lopez set him up with a pass through the Pirates defense that freed Venegas for the shot in the box.

Getting the shut out win in goal for the Dons was David Sorto who turned away all five shots he faced in 90 minutes. OCC's Connor Nelson made four saves while allowing four goals.
