SANTA ANA - It was a tale of two halves in Dons latest match against Santiago Canyon College as the two teams played to a 2-2 tie after the Dons held a 2-0 lead at the half. The tie, coupled with Orange Coast College's 1-0 win over Irvine Valley College, shrinks the Dons (12-3-2,7-1-2) Orange Empire Conference lead to just one point while the Hawks (10-3-3,5-3-2) move within five points of Santa Ana in the standings.

The Dons first goal came in the 32nd minute following a foul outside of the box. Leonardo Contreras took the ensuing free kick and bent his shot around the defensive wall and into the net for a goal. Contreras set up the Dons second goal in the 39th minute when he slipped a pass through the defense and found Luis Venegas who beat the goalkeeper to put the Dons up 2-0.

But the Hawks would come back with a pair of goals of their own in the second half to force the tie. SCC's first goal came in the 48th minute when Carlos Moreno scored on a free kick from outside of the box. The Hawks second goal, also scored on a free kick, came in the 83rd minute when Moreno's free kick was headed in at the far post by Chris Adriano.

The Dons had the best scoring opportunity late when Venegas got past the Hawks defense and had a one-on-one shot against Shion Jahangiri. But Jahangiri was able to make the save in stoppage time, keeping the match at a tie.

Luis Trujillo played the entire game in goal for the Dons, making three saves with the two goals allowed. Jahangiri also played the entire game and made five saves, while allowing two goals.
