Dons Take Down the Wolverines for their First Win of the Season

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  On Friday afternoon, the Dons Men's Soccer team took down the San Bernardino Wolverines by a score of 1-0 to earn its first win of the 2017 season.

The Wolverines went into the match with a 2-0 record this season, taking wins over Santiago Canyon College and Rio Hondo College.

Santa Ana's defense, anchored by sophomore goalkeeper Stephen Sanchez, shut out the Wolverines after they had scored a total of seven goals in their first two games.

Christopher Lopez provided the only goal of the match with a laser to the top right corner of the net in the 72nd minute of the match to break the tie.

The Dons held out for the last 18 minutes to pick up the win and drop San Bernardino to 2-1 overall.

On Tuesday, Sept.5 the Santa Ana College Men's Soccer team will be back at home to host Mira Costa College at 4:00 p.m.
