Dons and Lasers End with a Tie

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  The Santa Ana College Men's Soccer team met up with the Irvine Valley Lasers on Tuesday afternoon for an Orange Empire Conference (OEC) showdown.

Both teams held their heads high after the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Matheus Cuhna had himself a great game, scoring one of the teams two goals and assisting on the other. It only took 11 minutes for him to put the first goal in, which was assisted by Daniel Castro.

11 minutes later, the Lasers countered with a goal of their own to tie the match at one. Eder Olivas was the goal scorer and he was assisted by Toby Waterman.

The second goal for the Dons came in the 28th minute when Paulo Gama put his first goal of the season away off a pass from Cuhna. With that, the Dons went into the second half leading 2-1.

The Lasers came out in the second half with an aggressive mindset, scoring a goal just two minutes into the half with a long ball from Eder Olivas to knot the game at two.

Santa Ana and Irvine Valley had plenty of chances to score again but couldn't do so, resulting in a 2-2 tie at the end of the match.

The Dons are now 4-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in the OEC, while IVC goes to 3-4-3 overall, 1-1-1 in the conference.

SAC will be at Orange Coast College for their next OEC matchup up on Fri. Sept. 29th at 3:00 p.m.
