SANTA ANA – With a victory seemingly in sight, the Dons surrendered a late goal moments before the final whistle to play visiting San Bernardino Valley College to a 2-2 tie. The tie moves the Dons record to 1-4-2 as they wrap up non-conference competition while Valley moves to 3-2-3.

Carlos Barrios put the Dons on the board first when he buried a shot into the back of the net on a cross from Jangho Yoon in the 33rd minute. That gave the Dons their first lead since the 60th minute of their second match of the season, a streak that ran approximately 460 minutes.

After SAC carried the 1-0 lead into the half, the Wolverines came back to tie the match at 1-1 in the 71st minute with Alex Gomez scoring on a Ruben Gonzalez corner kick.

But the Dons would reclaim the lead 15 minutes later with Yoon scoring on a header in front of the goal off a cross from the end line by David Yepez in the 86th minute. The Dons seemed poised to carry that lead to full time, but Danny Meza scored for Valley two minutes into stoppage time to force the 2-2 tie. Jose Politron tallied the assist on the play.

In goal, Ismael Ramirez made six saves for the Dons in 90 minutes and Valley's Alexis Primera made three saves for the Wolverines while also playing 90 minutes.

The Dons have the next week off as they prepare for their Orange Empire Conference opener on September 29 at Fullerton College.
