Dons Baseball Gets #3 Seed Following OEC Title, Will Host #14 Long Beach City

The Dons return to the postseason following their share of the Orange Empire Conference Championship. As the #3 seed, the Dons will host #14 Long Beach City College in the first round of the CCCAA Baseball Southern Regional Playoffs.

The two teams start their best-two-out-of-three playoff series this Friday, May 2 at 2:00 p.m.The series continues on Saturday, May 3 with game two at 11:00 a.m. If needed, a third game will be played on Saturday, 30 minutes following game two. All games will be played at Santa Ana College.

With a 14-7 mark in OEC play, the Dons shared the conference title with Orange Coast College, marking their first conference championship since 2011. Long Beach City also claimed a share of its conference championship, finishing in a three-way tie for first place in the South Coast Conference with a 15-6 conference record. Overall, the Vikings finished 21-15.

The two teams met once this season with the Dons winning 10-6 at home. Evanne Wilkes got the win for the Dons after allowing three runs, none earned, on seven hits over five innings. Joshua Vargas led the way offensively, batting 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs scored.

Admission for this weekend's games is $10 for general admission and $7 for for students, faculty, staff, senior citizens (60 and over) and children (under 12).
