Dons Take Advantage of Six Long Beach City College Errors to Win 10-1

SANTA ANA - Despite being held to three hits, the Dons invoked the run rule in their 10-1 victory over Long Beach City College in a non-conference game. The game was originally scheduled for January 25 but was postponed due to rain.

The Dons (13-5) runs came mostly on Vikings (12-7) errors as Long Beach committed six errors in four innings. The only batters to get hits for the Dons were the 7-8-9 hitters with Mina Pavao, Chantal Oelrich and Genna Main getting one hit apiece. Pavao and Oelrich had the only RBIs for the Dons with two apiece.

Along with her two RBI, Oelrich also pitched an impressive game as she allowed just one unearned run on two hits. The win improved her to 7-4 on the season.

The Dons got two runs in the first when Danielle Hernandez reached on an error before adding a third run in the second when Alexandra Perkins scored on another error. Two more runs came across in the third inning on a two-run single by Oelrich before the Dons scored five times in the fourth. All 10 of the Dons runs were unearned.

Next up for the Dons is Saddleback College at home on Wednesday, March 13 with the first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
