Dons Make Quick Work of Fullerton College in 8-0 Victory

SANTA ANA - The Dons bounced back from a pair of losses with an 8-0 win over Fullerton College in five innings of an Orange Empire Conference game. The win improves the Dons to 14-7 on the season and 4-5 in conference while Fullerton falls to 4-16 and 2-7.

Alexandra Perkins started things off in the first inning when she was hit by the first pitch of the frame, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out and then scored when Sabrina Perez reached on an error.

The Dons would add five more runs in the second inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing triple by Danielle Hernandez. The other two runs of the inning came in on a doubles by Perez and Mina Pavao.

The seventh run came in the fourth inning when Perez singled to centerfield, scoring Hernandez before the final run came across in the fifth inning. With Becky Poirier standing on third base, Genna Main laid down a bunt towards the mound. Poirier beat the throw home and the game ended with the Dons up 8-0.

On the mound, Devon Rodriguez (7-1) was in control as she allowed just one hit in five innings of work. After allowing one base runner in each of the first two innings, Rodriguez retired the final 10 batters she faced.

The Dons host Orange Coast College tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. for their next game.
