SANTA ANA - After struggling against Saddleback College in the first two meetings of the season, the Dons picked up their first win over the Gauchos with an offensive explosion that included three home runs.

The highlight of the 10-0 victory belonged to Devon Rodriguez who tied a Santa Ana College record with her eighth home run of the season on a three-run shot in the fourth inning that made the score 10-0.

Sabrina Perez got the offensive onslaught started when she momentarily tied Rodriguez for the team lead with her seventh home run of the season in the first inning. Danielle Hernandez followed in the second inning with a home run of her own.

The Dons broke the game open with three runs in the third inning started by a leadoff double by Perez. Rodriguez then doubled Perez in to make the score 3-0 before Hernandez singled in Rodriguez. Becky Poirier followed with a pinch hit double that scored Hernandez to cap the inning.

Prior to Rodriguez' home run in the fourth, Genna Main drew a leadoff walk before Alexandra Perkins reached on an error. Two batters later, Perez nearly beat Rodriguez to the home run record as she lifted a ball over the fence but couldn't keep it fair as it sailed outside of the foul pole.

Rodriguez (10-3) also got the win for the Dons on the mound as she shut out the Gauchos. Over five innings of work, Rodriguez held Saddleback to just three hits while only allowing two batters past first base. Sydney Abounassar (L, 6-8) took the loss for the Gauchos after allowing seven runs on nine hits over three innings.
