Women's Soccer Shuts Out Cuyamaca For First Win of Season

SANTA ANA - The Santa Ana College women's soccer team recorded its first victory of the season with a 2-0 win over visiting Cuyamaca College in a non-conference game. The win improves the Dons to 1-1-0 on the season while Cuyamaca falls to 0-3-0.

Both of the Dons goals came in the second half with Gabriela Rodriguez having a hand in both of them. The first goal, scored by Syprus Ohanesian, came in the 70th minute when Rodriguez sent a long pass over the Coyotes defense to a streaking Ohanesian who was able to beat the keeper one-on-one. The second goal, scored in the 80th minute, was scored by Rodriguez on a penalty kick after Brianna Cruz was fouled in the box.

Teresa Pintor and Cristina Lizarraga split time in goal to earn the shutout for the Dons. Pintor didn't face any shots while Lizarraga made one save on the only shot she faced.

The Dons have their first road game coming up when the travel to East Los Angeles College on Tuesday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m.
