Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 to SB Valley Despite Strong Start

SANTA ANA - An overmatched women's soccer squad lost to visiting San Bernardino Valley College 2-0 in a non-conference match. The loss drops the Dons to 1-3-0 on the season while the Wolverines improved to 2-0-2 with the win.

The two goals were scored by SB Valley just five minutes apart in the 55th and 60th minutes, respectively. Cynthia Chavez scored the first goal on an assist from Amairany Rosales while Katie Hernandez scored the second goal on an assist by Claudia Zepeda.

Those goals came after the Dons had three strong scoring chances in the first half, while Teresa Pintor was able to turn away all four shots she faced in the first 45 minutes.

But the second half belonged to the Wolverines who were able to boast a much larger bench than the Dons. SAC entered the game with just three availables subs while SB Valley's roster listed 23 players in excess of its starting 11.

Next up for the Dons is their final non-conference match when they host Palomar College on Wednesday, September 17 at 4:00 p.m. That match is followed by the Dons Orange Empire Conference opener next Friday, September 19 when SAC hosts Orange Coast College at 3:00 p.m.
