Dons Blank East Los Angeles 4-0 in Home Opener

For the second time in five days, the Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team defeated East Los Angeles College. The latest win was a 4-0 victory in the Dons home opener to improve SAC to 5-0 on the young season.

The Dons first run of the game came in the second inning when Keila Tenorio hit a two-out single to score Angelica Cesena who reached earlier in the inning on a fielder's choice.

SAC extended its lead to 3-0 with a pair of runs in the fourth inning, aided by an error by East LA (3-4). After reaching on a fielder's choice and moving to second on a walk, Genna Main took third on a throwing error before scoring on a wild pitch.

Kristen Hooper was then hit by a pitch before stealing second base. Tenorio followed with a two-out double to the fence, allowing Hooper to score from second.

Tenorio drove the Dons final run of the game in on her third, two-out base hit of the game, this time in the sixth inning. Cesena reached base earlier in the inning on a fielder's choice before Tenorio's double brought her home.

On the mound, the Dons were led by Kaitlyn Hooper who improved to 5-0 on the season. Over six innings, Hooper held the Huskies scoreless while allowing just five hits.

Becky Poirier pitched a perfect seventh inning for the Dons to seal the victory. After striking out the first batter she faced, Poirier got the final two batters to pop up.
