Dons Offensive Surge Lifts them Past Saddleback 10-2

SANTA ANA, CA - The Dons took advantage of good hitting coupled with multiple errors to defeat Saddleback College 10-2 in five innings in an Orange Empire Conference game.

The offensive surge got started right off the bat as the Dons (21-11, 10-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead on four errors and three hits. Cheyanne Tovar and Kristen Hooper each picked up an RBI with the two other runs scoring on errors.

After Saddleback (24-8, 11-5) scored twice in the top of the third inning, the Dons added a pair of runs in the bottom half of the third with Kaitlyn Hooper singling in Dowling before Eryn Martinez doubled in Kaitlyn Hooper to put the Dons up 6-2.

Following the single that scored both of the Gauchos runs, Kaitlyn Hooper retired eight batters in a row to set up the Dons run-rule victory. Perkins scored an unearned run in the fourth before the Dons three-run fifth ended the game.

Perkins drove in the Dons seventh and eighth runs before Keila Tenorio doubled in Angelica Cesena for the game-winner.
