Dons Win 1-0 Despite Fullerton Throwing a No-Hitter

The Santa Ana College (SAC) softball team was held without a hit but capitalized on a pair of Fullerton College errors to win 1-0 in an Orange Empire Conference game.

The Dons (9-4, 2-2) lone run of the game came in the fifth inning when Samantha Abrahamson led the inning off by reaching on an error before being replaced by pinch runner Eryn Martinez.

Martinez then stole second base before Cheyanne Tovar advanced her to third on a ground out. Melissa Biddle followed with a fly ball to centerfield that was dropped by the defense allowing Martinez to score.

Becky Poirier picked up the win for the Dons, her first of the season, in relief of Taylor Burks. Poirier allowed just one hit over two innings after Burks held the Hornets to one hit over four innings. Kaitlyn Hooper earned her first save of the season after she relieved Poirier in the seventh.

Amanda Lang suffered the loss for Fullerton (3-6, 1-3) despite holding the Dons hitless over six innings. Lang also struck out a pair of batters while walking only one.
