SANTA ANA - The Dons only losing streak of the season came to an end today with an 8-0 win over Orange Coast College (5-12, 1-7) in five innings. The win came behind a pair of big offensive innings and a strong outing on the mound by Kirstin Gutierrez.

Emily Whitecavage led the first inning off by reaching third base on an error before scoring on a single by Alyssa Yglesias. Later in the inning, Natalie Wolf reached first safely before getting caught in a rundown that allowed Yglesias to score. Wolf was also safe on the play and eventually came around to score when Keila Tenorio reached on an error.

The Dons (16-4, 5-3) extended their lead to 4-0 in the third inning when Sabrina Perez led the frame off with a double before eventually scoring on a two-out single by Tenorio.

Finally, the Dons scoring was capped off in the fifth inning by a pinch hit, three-run home run by Heather Robertson. The home run was set up by a lead-off single by Marissa Ross and a walk issued to Tenorio.

On the mound, Gutierrez improved to 4-1 on the season as she shut out the Pirates while allowing just three hits. After allowing two first-inning singles, Gutierrez retired the next 11 batters she faced before allowing a third hit in the fifth inning.
