SANTA ANA - The Dons withstood a six-run inning before rallying late to defeat Cerritos College 10-7 in a non-conference game. The win also completes a three-game sweep for the Dons (20-6) over Cerritos (18-7).

After Sabrina Perez put the Dons up 1-0 with a solo home run in the first inning, the Falcons put six runs up on four hits in the third inning, including a three-run home run by Arianna Hernandez, to take a 6-1 lead.

But the Dons would mount a rally with five runs of their own in the fourth inning to tie the game at 6-6. Perez led the fourth off with a walk before Keila Tenorio singled to right field with an error advancing both runners.

After Cerritos recorded the first out, Annie Dowling singled in Perez and Tenorio to cut the lead to 6-3. Two more singles, by Chantal Oelrich and Paolena Comouche, loaded the bases before Danielle Hernadez grounded out to first, scoring Dowling. After a walk loaded the bases again, Alyssa Yglesias reached on an error allowing both Oelrich and Comouche to score and tie the game.

Then in the fifth inning, Cynthia Rice reaced on a one-out single before stealing second base. Dowling then singled to centerfield, advancing Rice to third before Oelrich hit a sacrifice fly to score Rice for the go-ahead run.

The Dons added three more runs in the sixth inning with Perez doubling in Emily Whitecavage before Tenorio doubled in Sarah McAndrew who came in to run for Perez. The Dons final run came when Rice got caught in a rundown between first and second, allowing Tenorio to score from third base.

Cerritos would get one more run in the seventh inning on a single and an error but Kirstin Gutierrez would get a line-out at third base to end the game.

Gutierrez (6-2) got the win for the Dons after pitching four innings of relief while allowing just one run, unearned, on five hits. Kat Flores (8-2) took the loss for Cerritos as she allowed 10 runs, eight earned, on 13 hits in six innings.
