SANTA ANA - The Dons put up seven runs in the first two innings on their way to an 8-3 victory over Saddleback College. The win gives the Dons (26-8, 12-5) the season sweep over the Gauchos (24-10, 10-7) with Lindsey Esparza picking up the win in each game.

Esparza (8-3) got the win today as she held Saddleback to three runs on six hits over five innings of work. She also struck out a pair of batters while shutting out Saddleback over the first four innings of the game.

Offensively, the Dons jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first inning on five hits while taking advantage of a Saddleback error. Emily Whitecavage led the frame off by reaching second on an error before Keila Tenorio singled her in. After Tenorio stole second base, Katelyn Harvey hit a RBI-single to score her.

That script played out two more times with Harvey stealing second and scoring on an Alyssa Yglesias single. Yglesias then stole second and scored on Annie Dowling's triple to right field. Dowling scored the final run of the inning on Karina Rosas' RBI-single.

Harvey doubled in two more runs for the Dons in the second inning with Tenorio and Chantal Oelrich scoring. Oelrich drew a lead-off walk before Tenorio reached on a one-out single. The Dons final run came in the fifth inning with Yglesias scoring from second on a bunt single by Rosas.

Saddleback scored all three of its runs in the fifth inning, utilizing two singles and two doubles to get on the board. But Esparza ended the threat in the fifth before Frances Campoy came in to pitch the final two innings, shutting out the Gauchos while allowing just one hit.
