Dons Softball Draws OEC, District Rival Santiago Canyon in Super Regionals at Palomar

With back-to-back 3-0 wins over Allan Hancock College, the #5 Dons advanced to the CCCAA Softball Southern Super Regionals on May 9-11 at Palomar College and will play #4 Santiago Canyon College at 4:00 p.m. in their opening game. The other opening matchup of the Super Regional will be #1 Palomar College against #10 Cerritos College.

The Super Regional is a four team, double elimination tournament with games being played on Friday, May 9, Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11. The format of games is below. 

Friday's game will be the fourth meeting between Santa Ana and Santiago Canyon after the two teams met three times during Orange Empire Conference competition. The Hawks took the season series 2-1, helping propel them to the OEC title by one game. However, the Dons claimed the final matchup with a 4-2 victory after the Hawks won their two games by scores of 4-0 and 3-2.

As for the other two teams in the bracket, the Dons split their season series with Palomar 1-1 with the home team winning each game (Dons won 9-4, Palomar won 5-4) while the Dons won all three games against Cerritos by scores of 8-2, 13-9 and 10-7.

Saturday, May 10

Game Three: Winner of Game One vs. Winner of Game Two at 12 PM 
Game Four: Loser of Game One vs. Loser of Game Two at 2 PM 
Game Five: Loser of Game Three vs. Winner of Game Four at 4 PM 

Sunday, May 11

Game Six: Winner of Game Five vs. Winner of Game Three at 12 PM 
Game Seven, if necessary between opponents of Game Six at 2 PM
