Dons Shut Out Orange Coast College for Second Time this Season

SANTA ANA – The Dons shut out visiting Orange Coast College for the second time this season, this time by a score of 3-0. The win improves the Dons to 11-9 overall and 6-2 in the Orange Empire Conference while Orange Coast falls to 2-16 overall and 1-7 in conference.

The Dons scored all three of their runs in the first two innings with Emily Whitecavage scoring the first run of the game in the first inning. She led the frame off with an infield single before stealing second base. She came in to score later in the inning on a RBI-single by Ashley DeHuff.

Katlyn Harvey drove the other two runs in with her triple in the second inning that scored Kirstin Gutierrez and Kori Cochran. Gutierrez reached earlier in the inning on a walk and Cochran hit a bunt single.

Victoria Franks (11-7) got the win as she threw seven shutout innings while allowing four hits with six strikeouts. Kellie Tiner (2-10) took the loss for Coast as she allowed all three runs on eight hits while matching Franks with six strikeouts.
