Dons Defeat Riverside City 10-2 in Five Innings to Remain in First

SANTA ANA – With two big offensive innings to start the game, the Dons defeated Riverside City College 10-2 in five innings of an Orange Empire Conference game. The win improves the Dons to 16-10 overall and 10-2 in conference while Riverside falls to 9-18 overall and 3-9 in conference.

The Dons opened the game with five runs on four hits including a pair of two-run doubles by Christina McCullogh and Tori Ferguson. Katlyn Harvey drove in the other run, which was the first of the game, when she singled in Kori Cochran.

Four more runs came across in the second inning with Cochran singling in Emily Whitecavage, Annie Dowling singling in Cochran and Vanessa Moreno doubling in Harvey and Dowling.

Riverside scored its two runs in the third inning with Jessica Valenzuela singling in Michelle Paul before Kaylie Garcia singled in Jordan Emanuele.

The Dons final run came in the fifth inning with McCullogh ending the game when she doubled in Harvey who led the frame off with a single.

Victoria Franks (16-8) got the win for the Dons as she held Riverside to just two runs on four hits over five innings. Alexis Holman (5-9) took the loss as she allowed five runs on four hits in just one inning of work.
