#10 Dons Upset #2 Allan Hancock in Game One of Super Regionals

SANTA MARIA, CA – The #10 Dons opened the Super Regionals in commanding fashion with an 8-2 win over #2 Allan Hancock College. With the win, the Dons (27-13) snapped Allan Hancock's 33-game winning streak while also advancing in the winner's bracket of the Super Regionals.

After the team's opened the game with three scoreless innings, Katlyn Harvey put the Dons on the board first with a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning. Two more runs came across in the fifth inning before the Dons scored three times in the sixth to make the game 6-0.

The two runs in the second were scored on a RBI-triple by Emily Whitecavage and a RBI-single by Kori Cochran while back-to-back doubles and a RBI-single brought the three runs across in the sixth. Christina McCullogh rounded out the Dons scoring with a two-run double in the seventh.

Allan Hancock (35-3-1) scored both of its runs in the sixth inning with one run plating on a bases-loaded walk before the other run scored on a wild pitch.

Victoria Franks (27-11) got the win as she allowed just two runs, one earned, on six hits over seven innings of work while striking out six batters. For Allan Hancock, Katie Chenault (34-3) took the loss as she allowed all eight runs on eight hits over six innings. Chenault also issued six walks and hit a pair of batters.

Next up for the Dons is fellow Orange Empire Conference opponent Cypress College as the Chargers defeated Santiago Canyon College 13-5 in five innings. It will be the fourth meeting of the season for the two OEC opponents with Cypress winning two of the previous three match ups.
