Dons Unable to Generate Offense in 7-1 Loss to Palomar College

SANTA ANA – The Dons dropped a non-conference game today 7-1 against Palomar College. The loss drops the Dons to 13-10 while Palomar improves to 19-1-1. The loss evens the season series between the two teams with the Dons winning the first meeting 4-0. That still stands as the only loss for the Comets.

Palomar jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before extending its lead to 5-0 in the second inning. Iesha Hill added the Comets sixth run with a solo home run in the fifth inning before Palomar scored its seventh run in the sixth inning.

The Dons offense struggled the whole game with Vanessa Moreno breaking up a no-hit bid with a single in the fifth inning. Katelyn Harvey would add a single in the seventh before eventually scoring the Dons lone run when Tori Ferguson reached on an error.

Victoria Franks (13-8) took the loss after allowing five runs on six hits in just two innings of work. Summer Evans (13-1) avenged her only loss of the season by allowing one run on two hits over seven innings.
