Dons Split on Day Two of Super Regionals

After falling to host Rio Hondo College 5-1 in the winner's bracket of the California Community College Athletic Association Southern Super Regional Championships, the Dons advanced to the final day with a 9-6 win over El Camino College.

The Dons will once again face Rio Hondo College on Sunday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. The Dons need to win that game in order to force a final, deciding game. However, a Rio Hondo win would eliminate the Dons.

In their first game, the Dons out-hit Rio Hondo 9-6 but the Roadrunners made the most of their hits, including a two-run double and a two-run home run. The Dons lone run was a solo home run by Kyle Kuck in the fifth inning.

In the elimination game, the Dons jumped out to a 4-0 lead over El Camino before the Warriors put up a run in the third and used a two-run home run in the fourth to cut the Dons lead to 4-3.

The Dons extended their lead to 7-3 in the fifth inning, sparked by a two-run home run by Dylan Jones. But the Warriors got a three-run home run in the seventh to once again cut the Dons lead to just one at 7-6.

Finally, the Dons pushed two runs across in the eighth inning to secure the 9-6 victory while eliminated El Camino.
